Dr. Dell has several types of eye surgery that meet the needs of every vision ailment. At Dell Laser Consultants it is stressed that every persons eyes are different from everyone elses. That said, everyone needs a slightly varied form of treatment in order to achieve the best vision possible. When you meet with Dr. Dell to discuss Lasik he will review all of the options that best suit your individual eyes. A number of technologically advanced methods are utilized to find out how your eyes work and where the root of your vision problem comes from. This knowledge allows the computer guided laser to correct your vision with accuracy and precision. Dr. Dell offers traditional Lasik, Intralase Lasik, Advanced Surface Ablation, "Flap-less" Blade-free Laser Vision Correction (ASA), Refractive Lens Exchange, and Crystalens Refractive Lens Exchange. He will help you decide which procedure is best for you and your eyes. Dr. Dells technology is state of the art and can make a significant difference in the way you see the world.
LASIK or Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis
Traditional Lasik surgery involves the use of a precise blade called a microkeratome that gently cuts a flap in the cornea. Once this flap is folded aside the cool laser beam can work its magic on the underlying layer of the cornea. The laser carefully reshapes the cornea, thus changing the way you see. Within less than a minute the procedure is finished and the flap is replaced. The overall visit to Dr. Dell lasts about an hour and you are awake the entire time. You will be given anesthetic drops for your eyes but will not require sedation as it is important for you to remain awake during the procedure. Many patients return to work the following day and only need medicated drops for the first week post-surgery. The advantage to this type of surgery is the quick recovery time and little or no discomfort in following days.
Intralase Lasik
This form of Lasik surgery takes the traditional method to a new level of technology advancement. For those patients wishing to avoid the blade of traditional Lasik, Intralase Lasik is a good choice. Intralase Lasik uses a laser to cut the flap, not a blade, which can reduce the risk even further and might improve vision beyond what is possible with traditional Lasik. Dry eye symptoms are also less likely with Intralase as opposed to traditional.
Advanced Surface Ablation, "Flap-less" Blade-free Laser Vision Correction
This form of surgery also does not use blades to cut the corneal flap, in fact it does not cut the flap at all. Instead, highly advance technology reshapes the cornea without the removing any portion of the eye. Instead, the special excimer lasers capable of eye tracking and wavefront reshape the cornea. This form of surgery is quickly becoming a popular method and it has only one disadvantage. You might experience blurry vision for one to two days after the procedure is performed, but you will be able to drive again soon after. A protective soft contact lens will be placed on your eyes during the healing process. Refractive Lens Exchange and Crystalens Refractive Lens ExchangeThese are two additional services Dr. Dell offers his patients. A consultation with him will let you know whether these are appropriate for your needs
